THE BEST PUB ROASTS IN BRIGHTON & HOVE
If you’re looking for a roast dinner in Brighton, you’ll be left spoilt for choice.
In our experience, nearly every pub we’ve visited has offered a roast of some variety on a Sunday.
However, some have definitely been better than others, which is why we’ve put together this handy guide of our five favourites.
1. Hove Place
While it may be one of the more expensive pubs on our list, a roast from Hove Place is worth every penny.
Offering a wide selection for meat lovers and vegetarians alike, the pub is also dog-friendly and has an amazing beer garden that’s great for soaking up the summer sun.
It also has a wonderful Italian-style beer garden, making it the ideal place to enjoy a roast with a cheeky spritz or three.
2. The Fox on the Downs
Venturing a little further out of Brighton up towards the Brighton Racecourse will take you to The Fox on the Downs.
Offering an excellent carvery served by an always welcoming Irish host, the food and drink are great value, providing you with as much extra gravy as you can stomach.
3. The Cleveland Arms
If you’re looking to tie your roast dinner in with a dog walk, look no further than The Cleveland Arms.
Located next to Blaker’s Park and very close to Preston Park, you and your dog will have a great resting point after your walk at The Cleveland, which offers a wide range of great-tasting Sunday lunches.
4. The Long Man of Wilmington
As a sister pub to Hove Place, it’s perhaps no surprise why The Long Man of Wilmington has made its way onto our list.
Located near Hollingbury, it may be slightly more of a faff to get to from Brighton than its sister, but it’s well worth a visit. It also has parking, shows lots of live sports and has a pool table. So what more could you really ask for?
5. The Devil’s Dyke
Another one for the dog walkers, The Devil’s Dyke is a Vintage Inn with a difference.
While you may need a car to get to it, the pub offers spectacular views over the Dyke and has a roast dinner to match. There’s also ample parking available and lots of seating but, being so popular, we’d recommend booking ahead.
6. The Westbourne
There are several great roast dinners available in West Hove and Aldrington but our favourite would have to be The Westbourne.
A hugely spacious pub located near(ish) Hove Station, the bar staff have always been great whenever we’ve visited and the roasts have more than matched the service.
