🍻 In One Sip: A roaringly grrrrrrreat spot for craft beer with a tiger at its heart.

All you need to know about Easy Tiger @ The Hampton

Do you like animal-themed pubs? How about impeccable ranges of craft beer? Oh, and Indian street food? Well, you’ll never guess what – we have the perfect pub for you.

Easy Tiger @ The Hampton may be the first pub we’ve ever come across with an ‘@’ in its name. But based on how good it is, we’re 100% pro all pubs using ‘@’ symbols in their names from here on in.

Based just off of Western Road, more or less opposite another pub called The Windmill, Easy Tiger @ The Hampton is an absolute must-visit if you’re into good vibes, good beer, good bar staff and good food. Basically, all the good stuff.

We absolutely LOVE this pub and are often found chilling in the hideaway beer garden during the summer months. We’d live there permanently if we could, but apparently that’s ‘frowned upon’…

Food and drink at Easy Tiger @ The Hampton

Which types of drinks is it good for? 🍺

Two words: craft beer

If you’re into trying the latest creations from breweries around Sussex and the south of England, Easy Tiger always has a rotating fleet of craft beer classics.

When we visited, it had everything from Arundel Brewery’s rather gross-sounding Pond Water Pale Ale to Beak Brewery’s super-hard-to-type DÉŠŤ Czech pilsner. So, it’s the ideal place for craft beer snobs like us.

The pub also offers a fab range of wines, spirits and cocktails to choose from if those are more your thing.

Does it do food? 🍔

Yes, it does! And it’s definitely not the usual pub grub you’d find in and around other pubs in Brighton.

While we're not 100% sure on this (please don’t sue us if we’re wrong), we believe the 'Easy Tiger' part of the pub's name refers to the kitchen they have here. Whereas, 'The Hampton' is the name of the pub where the kitchen is based.

Whichever way it’s arranged, we don’t care. We just care about the food they serve and, wow… is it GOOD

Run by Chef Sabu and his team, the pub offers authentic Indian cuisine in the form of Indian street food

The appalams with homemade chutneys are a personal fave, but the Panjabi samosas and Lahore Chicken Curry are also delicious and pair very nicely with the wide range of craft beers they have available.

Take a look at their full menu here to get those taste buds tingling.

Does it do roast dinners? 🍗

No. While we’re sure they’d be amazing if they did, the pub specialises in Indian street food, so it doesn’t serve roast dinners

That is, unless, you fancy persuading Chef Sabu and his team to create some kind of roast curried chicken, of course. In which case, I’m sure they’d rustle up something pretty spectacular.

Features and amenities at Easy Tiger @ The Hampton

Does it have a beer garden? ☀️

Yes, it does! After walking into the pub, you should see the beautiful beer garden appear in your eyeline as you look towards the left of the bar.

It’s pretty decently-sized too, with plenty of benches normally available to choose from.

We’re a big fan of the funky artwork as well – it’s very in keeping with the overall vibe of the pub. And there are some great views available from there, so it’s a real treat for the eyes.

Is it dog friendly? 🐶

Absolutely! While the pub may be named after a rather large cat, four-legged friends are very welcome there.

In fact, we think they actually might prefer them to two-legged friends. But who could blame them? No one can compete with that level of fluffy adorableness.

Does it have any games or activities available? 🎲

There’s a small selection of board games available to play. But other than that, not really.

It’s one of those pubs that doesn’t need to rely on having games, live music or tons of events on. You go there for three main things: craft beer, Indian street food and maybe sometimes both.

Does it run a pub quiz? 🧐

No, it doesn’t, unfortunately. Although if it did, we imagine all the questions would probably be cat-based, which would leave many people feline pretty catty…

Does it show live sport? ⚽

Nope. But The Royal Sovereign usually does show live sport and is located only a four-minute walk away.

You’ve also got The Duke of Wellington around ten minutes away, which has its very own pool table. Win win.

How far a walk is it from the nearest train station? 🚂

Easy Tiger @ The Hampton is approximately 14-minutes walking distance away from Brighton train station – just enough time to work up a thirst.

You’ll also pass various other pubs along the way, including The Evening Star, The Caxton Arms, The Windmill and many more. So, you could even add it to some kind of pub crawl route if you so wish.

How would you describe Easy Tiger @ The Hampton...?

...to a friend? 🗣️

Easy Tiger @ The Hampton is a beautifully decorated pub just off Western Road, serving up Indian street food and an ever-rotating lineup of craft beers.

With a homely beer garden and a smattering of board games to keep things interesting, it’s the kind of place you walk into for one drink and end up staying all night.

The bar staff are also always lovely and smiley. In fact, as another well-known tiger might put it: they’re grrrrrrreat! (We’re sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves…)

...as a film? 🍿

Life of Pi – beautifully put together, with a tiger at its heart and a strong Indian focus!

Woah, easy tiger… we know you might be sad this pub review is nearly over, but don’t worry – we have plenty more. Take a look at our Brighton and Hove page for more reviews, or visit our homepage to use our bespoke pub-finder tool.
