SEVEN STARS

🍺 Pub Name: Seven Stars

📍 Location: The Lanes, Brighton and Hove

🗓️ Date of Visit: 28/02/2025

🍻 In One Sip: A relaxed, airy pub in the heart of The Lanes with one heck of a craft beer choice.

🍺 Must-Try: The sweet potato fries. We don’t know what they do, but they’re always INCREDIBLE.

All you need to know about Seven Stars

The Lanes area of Brighton is packed to the brim with amazing pubs. Whether it be magical cocktails from Bohemia, live jazz at The Mesmerist or incredible pub grub at The Cricketers, you’re spoilt for choice.

That said, however, our pick of the bunch around the area has to be Seven Stars

While it may seem slightly small and unassuming from the outside, prepare yourself for a Doctor Who tardis-like head explosion when you wander in through the doors.

With a large bar on your left, the pub goes on and on and, every time we’ve been has always had a fun, homey vibe. In fact, we enjoy it there so much, we thought we’d write a blog about it.

Food and drink at Seven Stars

Which types of drinks is it good for? 🍺

Craft beer and cocktail lovers, this one’s for you.

Seven Stars has one of the best rotating ranges of craft beers we’ve come across in Brighton and Hove. Regularly featuring firm favourites from Only With Love, Beak, UnBarred and Loud Shirt, there’s always something new to try.

Their range of non-alcoholic beers is always good as well, and they often have drinks deals on their cocktails. So, in other words, you definitely won’t go thirsty.

Does it do food? 🍔

Yes, it does! While it may not be the most expansive menu we’ve ever come across, it’s definitely a case of quality over quantity

Featuring all the usual pub grub favourites, such as burgers, sandwiches and fish and chips, the standout for us is always the crispy sweet potato fries. We don’t know what they do to them but they’re unlike any other sweet potato fries we’ve had before.

Does it do roast dinners? 🍗

Yes, they do and there’s always a ton of sides to choose from too.

In fact, we can’t think of a much better way to spend a Sunday than a quick jaunt around The Lanes before a roast at Seven Stars. Delicious.

The roast dinners are also available until 9 pm in case you ever fancy some late-night roast potatoes.

Features and amenities at Seven Stars

Does it have a beer garden? ☀️

Nope, unfortunately it doesn’t. But you honestly won’t miss it, thanks to its cosy interior and fab drinks range.

It also does have a lively area out the front of the pub where you can get some fresh air if you fancy.

Is it dog friendly? 🐶

Absolutely! Unlike The Mesmerist nearby, dogs are welcomed in with open arms each day of the week.

There are even dog treats and water bowls available too, as well as tons and tons of fussings from the bar staff.

Does it have any games or activities available? 🎲

With DJs every Friday and Saturday night, jazz nights every Sunday and other acts shown on Wednesday and Thursday, live music really is Seven Stars' jam (pun intended).

While there's not a huge amount to do in the way of pub games here, the tables and space it offers make it the perfect place to bring your own ones with you.

I mean, can you think of a better combination than Monopoly Deal, live jazz and a good pint of craft beer? Because we can't.

Does it run a pub quiz? 🧐

Nope. Not that we’ve seen signposted during our visits anyway.

Does it show live sport? ⚽

Sort of, but also not really.

While it shows the Six Nations, Euros and World Cup games when they’re on, you’d be better off heading just down the road to The Cricketers or The Black Lion if you’re keen to catch a game.

How far a walk is it from the nearest train station? 🚂

The pub is roughly an 11-minute walk away from Brighton train station. But you’ll pass a ton of other pubs on route, so it’s an ideal choice to add to a Brighton pub crawl.

How would you describe Seven Stars...?

...to a friend? 🗣️

Seven Stars is a welcoming pub right in the heart of The Lanes that offers a fantastic range of craft beers and cocktails.

While its food options aren’t mind-blowing (except for the sweet potato fries), the atmosphere of the pub is a joy to behold. It’s the kind of place you could stay all day, offering a much more accommodating vibe than other nearby venues like The Black Lion or Mesmerist – which are equally good in their own right!

...as a film? 🍿

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part Onea great addition to the series of pubs in the area that’s often overlooked and underrated! Plus it’s the seventh star film of the Harry Potter series!
